I am a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Computer Science  at Rutgers University and a research assistant at Laboratory of Network-Centric Computing (DISCO Lab). My research interests lie in the area of system security, operating systems, distributed systems, applied cryptograpy and covert systems. My advisor is Prof. Liviu Iftode. I also work with Prof. Joe Kilian and Prof. Vinod Ganapathy.

I have a Masters degree in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from College of Engineering, Goa, India.

Research Projects:

Rootkits and Stealth Attacks: The goal of this project is to explore different hiding techniques used by rootkits and stealth malware to evade detection from rootkit detectors and kernel integrity monitors. Part of the project was to demonstrate novel stealth attacks that do not use explicit hiding techniques but still evade detection. We explored virtual machines based techniques to provide defense from rootkits and rootkit carrying malware. We are currently exploring techniques to develop a comprehensive automated integrity monitor for the kernel.

Covert Collaboration and Communication: The goal of this project is to explore avenues for covert collaboration and communication over the internet. Currently, we are building a covert file system over the web.

Security and Privacy in Vehicular Networks: The goal of this project is to create a robust and scalable security framework for vehicular networks, balancing privacy with auditability using pairing based cryptography.
