The function of the IMACS Technical Committees is to maintain lists of individuals that are engaged in specific areas of research and that activitly participate, or may participate, in the publications and/or conference program of IMACS in those areas. Thereby, this establishs a means of communication between those individuals and with others within IMACS. An important role of the Technical Committees and of their members is to help in the organization of IMACS conferences, symposia, workshops, and/or special sessions in more general IMACS conferences such as the triennial IMACS World Congress. Also, members of IMACS Technical Committees are called upon to become members of the scientific program committee of events that are organized by non-IMACS societies, but that are co-sponsored by IMACS. Each IMACS Technical Committee has, in principle, one of its members that acts as the Spokesperson or Organizer of the committtee. When appropriate, he/she may be nominated by the other members to become Chair of the committee. (Also, a Co-Chair, Secretary, etc. may be likewise nominated.) IMACS Technical Committees maintain lists of individuals in their respective areas of interest that are potential participants in workshops and other events, and to which relevant announcements and information may be sent, when required. Additional information concerning particular IMACS Technical Committees may be obtained by contacting the Chair/Organizer of the corresponding committee or the IMACS Secretarait. Correspondence relating to corrections or suggestions for modifications/additions to the material appearing herein may be addressed to the IMACS Secretariat. Technical

Its main activity consists in the organization of a series of triennial IMACS symposia on mathematical modeling, known as MATHMOD Vienna. This series started in 1994, the 5th MATHMOD Vienna will take place during Feb.8 - 10, 2006 at TU Vienna. Details are to be found on its web site: http://simtech.tuwien.ac.at/MATHMOD/ * I.
