I received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Dept. of Computer Science at Rutgers University, as a member of the Laboratory for Networked Systems and Security (DiscoLab) advised by Professor Liviu Iftode. While at Rutgers, my research focus was on systems research in the areas of pervasive computing and computer vision. More specifically, I explored how to relate advances in operating systems and distributed systems research to the specific demands for performance, availability, security, and usability coming from real-world pervasive and computer vision-based applications. During this time, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Professor Mahadev Satyanarayanan (Carnegie Mellon University), Professor Ahmed Elgammal (Rutgers University), and Professor Vinod Ganapathy (Rutgers University). More recently, I have joined the Backup Recovery Systems - Advanced Development Group at EMC2, and my current research is in the area of file systems and storage with a specific focus on high-performance, deduplicating, data protection systems.
On a personal note, I am happily married to my wife, Marcy, with whom I have had the opportunity to travel to many excellent places, both inside and outside the US. Together we continue to have many interesting and fun adventures.
